THE BASE COLOURS

Black

The Coats New20s10

The actual colour black is unusual in most of the horse breeds and it is only on occasion that a breed is defined by the colour such as Friesians and Murgese. Though this is a simple colour, it comes in a a variety of other coats that have this designated 'black base'.

- Grullo,
- Smokey Black,
- Smokey Cream,
- Silver Black,
- Classic Champagne,
- Blue Roan.

Chestnut

The Coats Sorrel10

The Chestnut base is common in most breeds but only some are known for this colour. This includes the Suffolk Punch and some other belgian breeds. The colour is known by many names (Red/Sorrel) and has different variants such as Flaxen and Liver chestnut.
